EOI: Principal Geologist - Morocco Exploration

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Fortescue Morocco Exploration team as Principal Geologist.

Fortescue is undertaking a large-scale regional exploration program across Morocco focused on copper, gold, iron ore and other critical minerals. This role offers the opportunity to help shape one of the Company's most important international growth initiatives and contribute directly to the discovery of future mining opportunities.

You will be accountable for providing technical leadership across Fortescue's Morocco exploration portfolio, guiding regional geological interpretation, exploration strategy and project generation.

Reporting to the Exploration Manager, you will work closely with senior leaders and multidisciplinary technical teams to support exploration investment decisions while mentoring and developing exploration geologists.

Key Responsibilities

•    Providing technical leadership across Fortescue's Morocco exploration portfolio.
•    Developing regional geological interpretations and mineral systems models to support exploration targeting.
•    Leading project generation, target generation and portfolio prioritisation activities.
•    Reviewing exploration strategies, work programs and technical recommendations.
•    Identifying and evaluating new exploration opportunities, partnerships and acquisitions.
•    Mentoring and developing exploration geologists while strengthening technical capability across the team.
•    Supporting exploration investment decisions through high-quality technical analysis and recommendations.
•    Preparing technical reports and presenting exploration outcomes to senior leadership.
•    Promoting a strong culture of safety, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

•    Degree in Geology or a related Earth Science discipline.
•    Minimum 15 years' exploration experience with demonstrated technical leadership.
•    Proven success in greenfields exploration, project generation and mineral discovery.
•    Strong understanding of mineral systems, structural geology and regional geological interpretation.
•    Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary exploration teams and mentoring geologists.
•    Excellent technical writing, communication and presentation skills.
•    Experience working in international exploration environments will be highly regarded.
•    Experience using ArcGIS, Leapfrog, ioGas and geological database software will be advantageous.
•    Fluent French is required for this role.
•    English language proficiency will be highly regarded.
•    Current valid driver's licence.
