We have an exciting opportunity to join the Fortescue Morocco Exploration team as Superintendent Geologist.
Fortescue is undertaking a large-scale regional exploration program across Morocco focused on copper, gold, iron ore and other critical minerals.
This role offers the opportunity to lead exploration programs that could deliver Fortescue's next generation of mineral discoveries while helping establish the Company's long-term exploration business in Morocco.
You will be accountable for leading the planning and execution of multiple exploration programs across Morocco, managing multidisciplinary teams, contractors and field activities.
Reporting to the Exploration Manager, you will work closely with technical specialists and operational teams to safely deliver exploration programs, develop high-performing teams and support exploration investment decisions.
Key Responsibilities
• Leading the planning and execution of exploration programs across multiple projects.
• Managing geological teams, drilling campaigns and field operations.
• Developing annual work programs, exploration budgets and project schedules.
• Coordinating geological, geochemical, geophysical and remote sensing programs.
• Managing contractors and building strong relationships with government agencies, consultants and project partners.
• Reviewing exploration results and providing technical recommendations to support project advancement.
• Mentoring and developing exploration geologists while strengthening technical capability across the team.
• Ensuring exploration activities are delivered safely and in accordance with environmental and community commitments.
• Preparing technical reports, project reviews and recommendations for senior leadership.
Qualifications and Experience
• Degree in Geology or a related Earth Science discipline.
• Minimum 10+ years' exploration experience with demonstrated leadership responsibility.
• Proven experience managing exploration projects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong project management, budgeting and planning capabilities.
• Excellent understanding of greenfields exploration and mineral systems.
• Experience managing drilling and field exploration programs.
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and leadership skills.
• Experience working in international exploration environments will be highly regarded.
• Experience using ArcGIS, Leapfrog and geological database software will be advantageous.
• Fluent French is required for this role.
• English language proficiency will be highly regarded.
• Current valid driver's licence.
