Front-End Developer

Our Opportunity

Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster: Monday - Friday

Fortescue is seeking a skilled Front End Developer to join our Digital team and help shape high-quality digital experiences across our global websites.

This role will own the development, technical delivery and continuous improvement of Fortescue’s digital platforms, with a focus on building scalable, reusable and author-friendly web experiences using Sitecore XM Cloud, Next.js, React and TypeScript.

Working closely with Digital, UX/UI and Content teams, you will translate designs and business requirements into responsive, accessible and reliable digital experiences. You will also support website releases, performance improvements, technical troubleshooting and ongoing platform enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain reusable web components and digital experiences across Fortescue’s websites.
• Build and enhance website functionality using React, TypeScript and Next.js.
• Develop and configure components within Sitecore XM Cloud.
• Maintain Fortescue’s component library and design system using Storybook and Tailwind.
• Manage website builds, releases and deployments through CI/CD processes.
• Diagnose and resolve website bugs, broken builds, deployment issues and technical problems.
• Support publishing, rendering and content delivery workflows across global websites.
• Monitor and improve accessibility, technical SEO, Core Web Vitals and website performance.
• Support website enhancements, redesigns, migrations and platform upgrades.
• Partner with UX/UI, Content, Technology teams and external development specialists to deliver digital improvements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Proven experience developing and delivering modern, enterprise-scale websites and digital experiences.
• Advanced capability in React, TypeScript and Next.js.
• Strong understanding of headless CMS architecture, component development and content authoring requirements.
• Experience with Sitecore XM Cloud or comparable enterprise headless CMS platforms.
• Strong knowledge of Git, CI/CD pipelines, source control and modern deployment practices.
• Experience working with component libraries and design systems across large or multi-site environments.
• Strong understanding of accessibility, responsive design, technical SEO, web performance and Core Web Vitals.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve production website and deployment issues.
• Experience working collaboratively with UX/UI, Content, Digital and Technology teams.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in computer science, software engineering, web development or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
