Our Opportunity
Work Location: Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.
Roster: 8D/6R - FIFO ex Perth
Join Fortescue’s Resource Definition team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality geological data, interpretations and technical reporting.
You will support resource definition drilling programs, manage geological and assay data workflows, complete modelling using Leapfrog, Vulcan and ArcGIS, and contribute to continuous improvement across team processes and systems.
This role also provides an opportunity to demonstrate strong safety leadership while supporting the Senior Resource Definition Geologist to achieve project and company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and be a role model for Fortescue’s safety values and behaviours
- Manage geological and assay data workflows, internal QAQC, data collection/validation
- Complete geological interpretations with Leapfrog, Vulcan and ArcGIS for resource definition modelling and advancing the geological understanding of the projects
- Preparing accurate technical reports for internal purposes and delivering high-quality geological data for stakeholders
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Resource Definition team, including processes, systems, and workflows
- Support the planning and delivery of resource definition drilling programs and field validation activities
- Maintains a current knowledge of the database and modelling systems whilst making relevant recommendations
- Support the Senior Resource Definition Geologist in meeting team, project and company objectives
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Geology, e.g. Bachelor or master’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences or a related science field
- Sound industry experience preferably within the drilling, mining/metals, or oil and gas industries
- Demonstrated experience in different geological roles e.g., mine geology, exploration, planning and scheduling, program management
- Project management experience is highly regarded
- Must be eligible to work in Australia
- Class C manual WA driver’s license
