Our FY26 Highlights
From the Pilbara's first wind project to 200 million tonnes shipped, this was the year we continued to show what's possible
FY26 was a year of momentum.
From building new renewable energy infrastructure in the Pilbara to deploying zero-emissions technology and strengthening partnerships with First Nations peoples, we continued to show that industrial decarbonisation can be delivered at scale.
Here are six highlights from the year.
A new era for wind in the Pilbara

This year we began construction of our first wind farm in the Pilbara and installed a prototype wind turbine in China using our in-house self-erecting tower technology.
The 133MW Nullagine Wind Project will feature 17 wind turbines designed to operate in one of the world's most remote and challenging environments.
The project forms the foundation of a broader portfolio of wind generation that will help power Fortescue's operations with renewable energy and support our journey to Real Zero.
Electrifying heavy haul rail

This year, two battery electric locomotives entered service on Fortescue's Pilbara rail network.
Housing the world's largest land-mobile batteries, each locomotive has a 14.5MWh battery capacity and together, they're expected to eliminate around one million litres of diesel every year.
These locomotives will operate on renewable power delivered through our green grid, demonstrating that heavy-haul rail can operate without fossil fuels.
Strengthening our partnership with the PKKP People

This year we signed landmark Native Title and Co-Management Agreements with the Puutu Kunti Kurrama and Pinikura (PKKP) people.
The agreements give Traditional Custodians a greater voice in how mining happens on Country, strengthen protections for Country and cultural heritage, and create new opportunities for long-term economic participation.
They reflect our shared commitment to building respectful partnerships that deliver lasting benefits for current and future generations.
Delivering 24/7 firm renewable power

This year we delivered our first large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), marking another major milestone in building Fortescue's Green Grid.
The systems store electricity generated by renewables and deliver firm renewable power when it is needed, helping replace diesel and gas across our Pilbara operations.
The first installations at North Star Junction and Eliwana are the beginning of a planned 4-5GWh rollout of battery storage that will support one of the world's largest integrated off-grid renewable energy systems.
More than A$7 billion in First Nations procurement
Fortescue surpassed A$7 billion in contracts awarded to Australian First Nations businesses through our Billion Opportunities Program since 2011.
The program is about creating long-term economic participation through business ownership, capability development and employment opportunities.
These businesses are growing, creating jobs and building lasting economic opportunity in the communities where we operate.
A historic year for iron ore

Fortescue shipped more than 200 million tonnes of iron ore in a single financial year for the first time in our history.
This milestone reflects the dedication of more than 20,000 people across our global team, who work together every day to deliver safely and reliably for customers around the world.
From our first shipment in 2008 to today, we've grown into one of the world's most efficient iron ore producers. FY26 showed what's possible when our people work together with determination, discipline and a commitment to keep raising the bar.
