We are seeking an experienced and commercially-minded Finance leader to join us as Manager Finance Business Partner – CFO, Technology and Innovation.

 

Reporting to the GM Finance Business Partnering, this role leads the Finance Business Partnering team supporting the Chief Financial Office and Finance, Fortescue Integrated Technology (FIT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Research & Development (R&D) and Green Metal functions.

 

This dynamic role partners with executive and senior leaders to strengthen financial performance, support strategic and investment decision-making and enable innovation through disciplined commercial and financial management. The Manager also supports the governance, prioritisation and value measurement of Fortescue’s AI, technology and Research and Development investment portfolios.

 

This role requires strong commercial acumen, exceptional stakeholder management skills, a strategic mindset, intellectual curiosity and the ability to translate complex technology and innovation initiatives into clear financial insights and investment decisions

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead the Finance Business Partnering team supporting the Chief Financial Officer function, Fortescue Integrated Technology (FIT), Artificial Intelligence, Research & Development and Green Metal teams.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial performance reporting across the supported portfolios, providing clear and timely insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Provide strategic financial analysis, commercial advice and decision support to senior leaders and their respective leadership teams.
  • Partner with leaders to evaluate technology, AI, research & development and innovation investments and opportunities, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and measurable value.
  • Support the development and assessment of business cases and capital requests.
  • Develop clear performance reporting and insights to improve financial transparency, monitor value realisation and support timely decision-making.
  • Ensure consistent financial governance, accurate month-end reporting and compliance with Group Accounting Policies.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, collaborate across Finance and drive continuous improvement in business partnering, governance and reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Bachelor's degree in business, commerce, finance, accounting or a related discipline.
  • CA or CPA qualification would be highly regarded.
  • More than 10 years’ experience across Finance, Technology, Commercial, Strategy, Innovation or related business partnering roles.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with senior executives within a large, complex organisation.
  • Strong financial performance management, investment evaluation and business case development capability.
  • Experience supporting technology, digital, Artificial Intelligence, research or innovation portfolios would be highly regarded.
  • Strong commercial, analytical and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex financial, technical and risk information into clear recommendations.
  • Demonstrated people leadership and a track record of improving financial governance, processes and business performance.
