Our Opportunity

Work Location: Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.

 

Roster: 14D/14R - FIFO ex Perth


As a Track Machine Supervisor, you will lead the safe and efficient operation of Fortescue's track maintenance machinery across our heavy haul rail network. You will supervise a team of Track Machine Operators, coordinating planned and reactive maintenance activities to ensure our rail infrastructure remains safe, reliable and operationally efficient. This role is ideal for an experienced rail maintenance leader with strong technical knowledge of track machinery and a passion for safety, people leadership and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise Track Machine Operators and contractors, promoting a strong safety-first culture.
  • Coordinate resurfacing, inspection and maintenance activities to ensure the safe and reliable operation of rail infrastructure.
  • Plan, schedule and oversee maintenance work, ensuring work orders, inspections and documentation are completed accurately.
  • Monitor rail infrastructure condition, prioritise defect rectification and support planned shutdown activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Fortescue's rail safety, environmental, quality and permit requirements, including QA/QC processes.
  • Coach and develop team members while driving continuous improvement across maintenance planning, execution and reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Certificate III in Rail Infrastructure, Statutory Supervisor (S26) qualification and a current Manual C Class Driver's Licence.
  • Demonstrated experience in rail infrastructure maintenance, including previous leadership or Leading Hand experience.
  • Experience operating and/or supervising maintenance activities involving Plasser & Theurer 09-3X, 08-475-4S Unimat and SSP305 track machines.
  • Experience using SAP or a similar maintenance management system.
  • Strong knowledge of rail safety requirements, safe working systems and maintenance planning practices.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to coordinate major maintenance activities.
