Since first ore production in 2009, Christmas Creek has grown into one of the key operational mines in the Pilbara. Today, it’s helping drive the next chapter of heavy industry.

Today, it plays a critical role in supporting both our current operations and future growth.

Located on Nyiyaparli Country in the Chichester Ranges of Western Australia’s Pilbara region, Christmas Creek is also laying the foundations for commercial-scale green iron production in the Pilbara.

Christmas Creek is home to our Green Energy Hub and Green Metal Project. A real-world proving ground for the systems, technology and infrastructure driving Real Zero across our operations.

    Our Green Energy Hub is where new technology gets put to work. From offboard power units to heavy mobile fast chargers, we’re testing the equipment designed to cut fossil fuels out of mining operations for good.

    Our Green Metal Project is designed to produce high-purity green iron using renewable energy and low-emissions technology. Rewriting how iron is made and helping position Australia at the forefront of green metal production.

    A 60MW solar farm helps power daytime operations across the Chichester Hub. Cutting millions of litres of diesel every year and proving renewable energy can perform in heavy industry at scale.
